Inversions & Backbends
40-Hour Training with Rebecca Hannah & Miles Mortensen
Following the incredible response to last year’s 20-hour training — which sold out within just a few months — Rebecca and Miles are returning with an expanded and more immersive 40-hour Inversions & Backbends Training.
This extended format will give us the time to move beyond individual drills and explore the full process behind handstands and backbends: from mobility and strength to technique, body awareness, progressions, transitions and integration into practice.
Throughout the training, we’ll break down the mechanics of these challenging but rewarding movements, helping you understand not only what to practise, but why you are practising it.
The aim is not to force the body into a shape, but to develop the strength, mobility, control and confidence needed to approach each skill with greater awareness and intention.
About Rebecca and Miles
Yoga was the foundation of our movement journey, but our curiosity led us to expand beyond the traditional practice.
Over the years, we have deepened our knowledge through contortion training, dedicated hand-balance practice and continued study with circus professionals and specialist movement teachers.
These experiences transformed the way we understand and approach handstands and backbends. They helped us move beyond simply attempting shapes and taught us how to work progressively with strength, mobility, technique and individual anatomy.
This training brings those different worlds together, combining the awareness and flow of yoga with the precision, creativity and progressive methodology of modern movement practices.

Why choose this course
Accessibility and individual progress
We both work regularly with students of different levels and are experienced in adapting movements to suit individual needs.
Every drill and skill will be offered through progressions and variations, allowing you to explore from where you are now while still being appropriately challenged.
Whether you are beginning to explore inversions and backbends or looking to refine and advance your existing practice, you will receive the tools to work intelligently, safely and with greater independence.
Forty hours to explore more deeply, understand your body more clearly and build a practice that can continue evolving long after the training ends.
Your training manual
Every participant will receive a dedicated training manual designed to support both the weekend and your continued practice afterwards.
The manual will bring together the essential concepts, technical principles, drills and progressions explored during the training, giving you a practical resource to return to as your practice evolves.
Who should attend
Who is this training for?
This training is for anyone who wants to understand handstands and backbends beyond the final shape.
It is ideal for:
- Practitioners who feel they have reached a plateau and want a clearer path forward
- Students who want to build confidence, strength and awareness in inversions and backbends
- Experienced practitioners looking to refine their technique and explore more advanced progressions
- Yoga and movement teachers searching for new inspiration, tools and teaching methods
You do not need to have a perfect handstand or an advanced backbend to participate. Curiosity, consistency and a willingness to explore are far more important than arriving with a specific skill already achieved.
For yoga and movement teachers
Teachers will gain practical tools to bring mobility-based drills and progressive skill work into their classes.
We’ll explore how to identify common obstacles, offer intelligent variations, support students with different bodies and abilities, and bridge the gap between traditional yoga practice and modern movement approaches.
You’ll leave with new ways to structure sequences, teach challenging skills progressively and help your students develop greater strength, mobility and confidence.
